Marilyn Monroe's hair and dresses up for grabs at upcoming auction

Two locks of hair are among a range of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia expected to go on sale at an auction later this year.
The hair, obtained from the actresses’ hairdresser, are expected to sell from anywhere between US$6000 (AU$7990) and USD$8000 (AU$10,655) at an auction in Los Angeles on November 19 and 20, AP reports.
The auction will also feature a range of other items, among them costumes from movies Some Like It Hot and Niagra, and photos from the premiere of East of Eden (1955), ranging in value from US$3000 (AU$3995) to US$600,000 (AU$799,094).
A number of auction items be exhibited aboard the transatlantic ocean liner, Queen Mary 2, from August 9 onwards.
The auction will not be the first time celebrity hair has gone under the hammer. Locks from Elvis Presley and David Bowie were sold for £11,300 (AU$19,689) in 2009 and £13,700 (AU$23,871) in 2011, respectively.
