Man's charges upgraded to murder after alleged sexual assault in nursing home
A man's charges have been upgraded to murder after he allegedly broke into a nursing home in NSW and sexually assaulted a woman, leading to her death.
Police allege a 34-year-old man broke into the Uniting Nareen Gardens facility in Bateau Bay about 12.40am on November 15, 2023 and assaulted and sexually assaulted a 90-year-old woman.
She received extensive injuries and was rushed to hospital. She died two weeks later on November 28.

It's understood she received injuries during the alleged assault which became infected, leading to her death.
A 34-year-old man was charged in November 2023 with sexual assault offences, which were today upgraded to include murder and manslaughter.
The man is due to appear in Gosford Local Court on February 21.
