The wife of a man shot through their front door on the Gold Coast has said she has “no idea” why they were targeted.

Amanda Walker and her 44-year-old husband Trent were inside their Carrara home yesterday afternoon, when they saw a man and woman, armed with a shotgun and metal bar, storm up to their front door and fire a bullet.

The bullet whizzed through the wooden door, and hit Mr Walker in the arm.

The couple’s seven year old son was inside the house at the time, however wasn’t injured.

Today Amanda told 9NEWS she “still to this day has no idea” who the gunman is.

“My life flashed before my eyes,” she said.

Police believe the shooting was targeted but admit there is “no known connection” between the family and the attackers.

The gunman remains on the run. Police believe he and the woman had another two accomplices.

Witnesses describe the offenders fleeing the scene in a green coloured vehicle.

Detectives are now combing through CCTV taken from the family’s home, in a bid to identify the group.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
