A male Emirates passenger was reportedly zip-tied by three other men after allegedly attacking a female flight attendant on a Melbourne-bound flight this morning.

The man repeatedly punched the flight attendant after a disagreement about space to lie down, fellow passenger Matt Naylor told 3AW radio.

Mr Naylor said that he and two other men “sort of jumped on the man and pushed him to the ground” before he was restrained.

He said the attendant told him she was punched “a few times” by the man.

Emirates has confirmed that an incident resulted in a passenger being restrained on flight EK404 from Dubai to Melbourne this morning.

“The Federal Police were called and met the plane on arrival to assess the situation,” an Emirates spokesperson said.

“After this assessment it was agreed that the passenger would meet their connecting flight onto Auckland and did so with no issues.

“The cabin crew member involved was not injured and did not need to seek medical treatment.”
