Man trapped in drain for hours winched to safety

A 27-year-old man has been rescued after becoming trapped in a storm drain in Melbourne’s north overnight.

Emergency services were called to Hendersons Road, Epping, after the man was found in the drain just after 1am.

Video showed a rescue helicopter winching the man to safety a several hours later.

He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and will undergo a mental health assessment.
