Man hospitalised after being freed from car by emergency services following collision

A man has been taken to hospital with head and leg injuries after becoming trapped in his car in a crash at Prospect, in Sydney’s west.

Emergency rescue worked to free the man from the vehicle after his car collided head-on with another ute on Reservoir Road around 5.30am this morning.

Rescue crews worked for more than half-an-hour to free the driver.

"A Toyota Camry and a Toyota Hilux utility have crashed head on, before then colliding with an Audi sedan," a NSW Police statement said.

"The male driver of the Camry was trapped in the vehicle for a period of time before being freed. He was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

"The male driver of the Hilux has been taken to Blacktown Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing. The male driver of the Audi was uninjured."

Roads in the area were also closed in both directions by authorities and drivers are warned to expect significant traffic delays due to the incident.

The circumstances around the crash are now being investigated by authorities.
