Victorian man trapped in garbage truck

A man is trapped in a garbage truck on the Mornington Peninsula southeast of Melbourne.

The 21-year-old became stuck after the large residential bin he was in was picked up and emptied into the truck at Rye on Monday morning.

Police, Ambulance Victoria, the Country Fire Authority, WorkSafe and State Emergency Service were called to the scene and an air ambulance was dispatched.

The Rye man is understood to have suffered non life threatening injuries to his lower body.
