Man suffers injuries to his chest and pelvis after being trampled by a cow

A man has injuries to his chest and pelvis after he was trampled by a cow this morning.

Just after 10am paramedics were called to a property in Duckenfield, in Maitland in the NSW Hunter region.

Three crews including the Ambulance Rescue crew were dispatched to the scene and paramedics treated a man in his 30s.

"Initial reports suggested the man was trapped between the cow and a gate, he managed to free himself before we arrived on scene," NSW Ambulance Inspector Joel De Zuna said.

"While it's rare that we get called out to an incident involving a large animal like this, we train often for these situations and are well prepared.

"Paramedics assessed the man, he was in a fair bit of pain but thankfully he didn't suffer any life-threatening injuries."
