A man has been committed to stand trial over the 2001 alleged murder of Gold Coast bikie associate Darren Britza.

A Brisbane magistrate has committed Shane Anthony Eric Hansen to trial in the Brisbane Supreme Court, charged with murdering the 31-year-old who was allegedly bashed and stabbed to death in a Southport warehouse in 2001.

His remains were found seven years later near Canungra.

Mr Hansen had previously been named as a person of interest in the case, and today the court heard new witnesses had provided new statements alleging Hansen had confessed to the murder.

Under cross examination, witness Paul Taylor told the court he had taken LSD the day Britza was allegedly killed but still had a clear recollection of the day’s events.

“Just the memory of something traumatic like that, you don't forget,” he told the court.

Mr Taylor called Crime Stoppers in 2010 but only came forward to speak with police last year.

Prosecutors have 135 witnesses statements and a trial date is yet to be set.
