Manhunt for suspect who left man with life-threatening stab wounds

A major search is under way for a man who left another man for dead after a stabbing in Melbourne’s south-east yesterday.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene of a serious assault on Station Street in Aspendale about 4.20pm.

Ambulance Victoria said a 47-year-old man was rushed to hospital with "life-threatening" knife wounds to his upper body.

Victoria Police said the suspect is 185cm tall, of Caucasian appearance, and has a solid build.

He has blue eyes and wore a navy blue zip-up jacket and baseball cap.

The public are advised not to approach the man if they see him, but call Triple Zero. 

Police believe the parties are known to one another but the circumstances surrounding the stabbing are not yet clear.
