Worker rescued from Melbourne tower

A man has spent five hours stuck on a gantry on the outside of a building 28 storeys above Melbourne.

A firefighter had to abseil down from the 42nd floor to rescue the man, who was working on a tower construction site in Southbank on Thursday.

Ken Brown, from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, said the worker was not injured but was "feeling it" after his ordeal.

"We've been speaking to him on and off, while he's been in the swing stage, and he's been in very high spirits," Mr Brown told the Nine Network.

The man was lowered to the 18th floor and checked out by paramedics.
