Man stabbed in the chest at Mackay home

One man is in a serious condition in hospital with a stab wound to his chest and another has been charged after a confrontation near the Queensland city of Mackay.

Police say the serious assault occurred at a Bakers Creek home, just south of Mackay, at around 7.30pm last night. 

A 46-year-old man was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a serious condition.

A 53-year-old Bakers Creek man who was taken into custody at the scene has been charged with unlawful wounding and is due to appear at Mackay Magistrates Court tomorrow.
