Teen chases gunman from house with hockey stick during string of home invasions in Sydney's west

A 19-year-old woman chased a gun-wielding robber from her house with a hockey stick during a spree of home invasions in Sydney's west.

The man is believed to have been responsible for eight home invasions in a radius of 5km overnight.

About 11.15pm, a man carrying a handgun forced his way into a house on Kulleroo Crescent in Claremont Meadows and threatened the occupants before stealing their car, which was later found abandoned on Gipps Road.

It is believed the same man was the culprit behind two more home invasions on Mundowie Place and San Diego Avenue, and several others in the area.

A second vehicle was stolen from the San Diego residence, and a man and woman injured at the same place after the woman chased him out.

The gunman took some car keys as he fled and reversed the vehicle into the woman, knocking her down and fracturing her arm.

The woman's boyfriend also had his foot run over.

They were assessed by paramedics on site.

The second car was also abandoned, this time a few blocks away on Samuel Marsden Road.

The man has been describes as 182cm tall, of medium build and of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance with brown eyes and black hair.

Anybody who sees him is urged to not approach him and call Triple Zero immediately.
