Friends have paid tribute to the young man stabbed to death in Sydney’s west overnight.

The body of 20-year-old Gwar "George" Garmo was found on a driveway in Garnet Street, Bossley Park, shortly before 11.30pm after the home’s occupants returned to their house.

It is believed the residents did not know Garmo.

Distraught relatives gathered at the scene this morning, while the victim's friends took to social media to pay tribute to him.

“A brother got murdered last night. A very close brother,” one posted to Facebook.

“How many brothers fell victim to the streets. Rest in peace young brother,” another friend wrote.

Kesha Naidu said she was in shock.

“I can’t believe what I’m hearing,” she wrote on Facebook.

One neighbour told reporters she had seen unusual activity on the street where the body was found.

“There were two guys in white hoodies, they ran to the car…chucked a U-turn…chucked another U-turn, came to the top of the street and then they took off,” she told 9 NEWS.

Police are still searching for the two men believed to be responsible for the stabbing.

It is believed the victim tried to outrun his attackers as they chased him down.

It is understood the man did not live in the area.

Police were called to the area earlier in the evening after reports of a man running through the streets. There was a patrol of the area, but no one was found.
