Man rescues venomous red-belly black snake from underneath car

A man known as the “Moreton Bay snake catcher” has rescued a slithering red-bellied black snake from a car.

Video shows Peter Brabrook fearlessly crawling underneath a parked vehicle at Lawton, Moreton Bay, yesterday.

In one swift move, Mr Brabrook grabs the venomous reptile’s tail and pulls it into the open.

With a gentle wriggle of his wrist, the catcher appears to settle the snake, much to the amazement of a crowd of onlookers.

Red-bellied black snakes are among Australia’s most dangerous snakes, according to Australian Geographic.

Averaging two metres long, the species are capable of eating other snakes.  Their venom can cause muscle and nerve damage to humans, but rarely death.
