Romance takes to the skies as man proposes to girlfriend on plane

When Stuart boarded his Emirates A380 flight to Brisbane with his girlfriend Victoria, he knew he was going to propose - but he had no idea how memorable the event would become.

The crew got wind of his plans to pop the question and decided to make the moment as special as possible.

The Baradene College Concert Band, who were travelling on the same flight, agreed to join in and provided musical backing to an Emirates crew member's rendition of "What A Wonderful World".

In the plane's onboard lounge, Stuart told Victoria how much he had loved her since the first day they met. He got down on one knee, held up the ring, and waited for an answer.

She said "yes", of course. Cheers broke out from passengers and crew as the couple embraced, and toasted their future with some complimentary champagne.

Emirates posted a video of the event on YouTube, giving all grooms-to-be a template for how to plan the perfect proposal.
