Man performs handstand on moving car

A Gold Coast man who filmed himself performing a handstand on a driverless moving car could face up the three years in jail for the reckless stunt.

Worried Burleigh Heads locals phoned police on Tuesday to report "unusual activity".

Officers who were patrolling nearby for bikie activity arrived on the scene just in time to intercept the white Toyota Echo on which a 30-year-old man was allegedly performing dangerous moves, The Courier-Mail reports.

The unnamed man reportedly admitted to police that he set up his phone to film the stunt which he planned to uploaded to the Facebook page "handstand Tuesdays".

After police watched the footage, the man was taken into custody and charged.

"The vehicle was without a driver while the man was doing a handstand on its roof," Senior Sergeant Mat Kelly told the newspaper.

"If it had been hit by anything, that could have caused some very serious [injuries]," he said.

"It is alarming that young people are out there taking their lives into their own hands to take the vision to show off to the world."

The man is due to appear in court on March 10.
