Man loses finger in machete attack in Sydney’s west

A man has lost a finger during an attack by a machete-wielding intruder in his unit in Sydney’s west.

Around 5.20am this morning police rushed to a home unit on River Avenue in Carramar, 30 kilometres west of Sydney’s CBD.

A 43-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

As well as having a finger cut off during the attack, the victim also suffered a severe injury to his left arm.

The man was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from Fairfield City Police established a crime scene at the unit, and have begun a manhunt for the man believed to be responsible.

It is believed the two men knew each other and the incident is being treated as a targeted attack.
