Man dead after truck carrying asbestos crashes into tree in Barossa Valley

One man has died and another has been left seriously injured after a truck crashed into a tree in South Australia's Barossa Valley.

The truck, which was carrying asbestos, crashed and tipped on Murray Street in Tanunda early this morning, police said. 

A 22-year-old Evanston man died at the scene, while a 56-year-old man was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The road remains closed as crews including fire services clear the scene with police advising it is likely to be closed until later this afternoon. 

The man's death takes the state's road toll to 52 compared to 47 for the same time last year.
