Man in custody after Melbourne department store stand-off

A man who allegedly threatened police and other emergency workers with a knife after barricading himself inside a department store in Melbourne's CBD has been taken into custody.
Police say the 33-year-old, of no fixed address, barricaded himself inside an off-limits area of the Bourke Street store at around 8.30pm last night.
Just before 1am today he surrendered following negotiations with Critical Incident Response Team members.
Police allege the man threatened police and other emergency workers with a knife during the stand-off and caused damage to stock in the store, with his actions setting off the sprinkler system.
He was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for a mental health assessment and will face charges for weapons offences, burglary and property damage.
