Man believed to be vandalising train hit and killed in Sydney’s south

A man has died after being hit by a train in Sydney's south, with police saying he may have run across the tracks after vandalising a stationary train.

Emergency services were called to Kingsgrove Railway Station just after midnight today to find the 25-year-old man dead.

The man has yet to be formally identified.

Train passengers are said to have been stranded on a train for around an hour while police surveyed the area and set up a crime scene. 

A bus service was soon organised for the commuters, who were shuffled off the train and onto the street.

Trains on the T2 line from the city were suspended for three hours before returning to normal services.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
