A man has been hospitalised with head injuries after police believe he was attacked at an industrial complex in Sydney’s west.

Police were called to reports of an injured 51-year-old man lying in the middle of Punchbowl Road in Belfield just before midnight yesterday.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to St George Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Police have interviewed the man and believe he may have been assaulted and robbed after arriving at the industrial unit complex.

The man had gotten out of his car when he realised numerous vehicles were blocking his entrance, and was struck from behind as he pulled out his phone, police believe.

He was then punched in the face.

Police do not know how many people were involved in the assault.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
