Man found dead after Berkeley shed fire, south of Wollongong

A man has been found dead after a shed fire at Berkeley, south of Wollongong, this evening.

Firefighters were called to the Essex Street blaze about 10.45pm (AEDT), and found the shed well alight, the NSW Police Force said in a statement. 

Crews extinguished the fire but the shed had received extensive damage.

A search of the shed uncovered the body of a man, who is thought to be the resident of the property.

Police have established a crime scene and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.
