A man has been rushed to a Perth hospital after slipping between a platform and a moving train.

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) said the man was seen running towards a departing train on the Joondalup line about 2.20pm (WST) today.

He allegedly started punching and kicking the moving carriage because he could not get on board, then slipped and became caught between the train and platform.

The man was dragged until the platform ended, then fell to the ground.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said he was conscious when he was taken to Royal Perth Hospital, and is being checked for internal injuries.

The PTA said train services were disrupted in one direction for about 40 minutes.
