Man faces court over Vic assault murder

A Melbourne man accused of murdering a woman in the city's west has faced court.

Maryanne Sikai died in hospital after reportedly being assaulted at a house in Footscray on Tuesday night.

Isac Ayoul Daing, 35, of Ascot Vale, was charged with her murder and faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.

Daing did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody for a committal mention on July 9.
