Sunshine Coast man fell 30 metres down embankment after his tractor rolled over

A Sunshine Coast man has made a remarkable escape after his tractor rolled down a steep embankment and trapped him underneath.

The man in his 30s was slashing grass on a hill at Rosemount when the incident occurred around 7.30pm last night.

The four tonne tractor rolled almost 30 metres down the embankment.

“It’ll need to be investigated but at this point in time it would appear that he was attempting to slash on the ridgeline there at night time and succumbed to the incline there,” a Queensland Police spokesperson said.

Emergency services were confronted with the mangled wreck when they arrived and feared the man wouldn’t survive.

With his legs seemingly crushed underneath, the man’s family were contacted and brought to the scene to see him before a rescue was attempted.

When emergency services finally pulled him from the wreck his injuries were not as bad as first feared.

“(Taking into account) the terrain that he’s in, and the size of the vehicle and how far he’s gone down the embankment, he’s’ very, very lucky.”

The man was transported to Nambour General Hospital and is now recovering with non-life threatening injuries.
