Man dies in NSW following stabbing

A man has died after being stabbed on NSW's mid north coast on the first day of 2014.

Emergency services officers called to a Port Macquarie address around 6am (AEDT) on Wednesday found the 44-year-old man with stab wounds.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate him, but he died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established and inquiries continue.
