Man dead, man arrested after Vic collision

Police have released a Melbourne motorist whose car was involved in a fatal collision with a motorcyclist.

His car collided with a motorcycle on St Kilda Rd on Friday, with the 30-year-old St Kilda East-based rider dying in hospital a short time later.

Police questioned the 30-year-old Windsor man but released him, pending further inquiries.

They have called for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.

Victoria's road toll is 71, seven more than at the same time last year.
