Man charged with multiple offences after police chase in Perth's east

A 32-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences after he allegedly led police on a chase through Perth's east.

The chase started when a white Mercedes Benz X156 hatchback allegedly pulled in front of a marked police car suddenly in Cannington last Tuesday, forcing officers to take steps to avoid the vehicle.

The police vehicle followed the hatchback for a short distance before officers activated emergency lights and sirens on Nicholson Road in an attempt to get the car to pull over.

Police will allege the driver failed to stop, which triggered a chase that was called off a short time later due to public safety concerns.

At about 2.15am this Tuesday, a blue Toyota Camry sedan was allegedly stolen from an address on Hyland Way in Wilson.

It will be alleged police saw the stolen Camry on Great Eastern Highway in Ascot about 11.00am and activated emergency lights and sirens.

Police alleged the driver failed to stop and accelerated away, driving erratically and at high speed.

He's accused of abandoning the Camry in the carpark of a licensed premises on James Street in Guildford a short time later.

The man allegedly ran off and gained entry to the rear of a nearby residence on Ethel Street.

Police arrested the accused outside a property on Ethel Street about 11.10am.

A 32-year-old man from Hilbert was charged with one count of trespassing, one count of stealing a motor vehicle and driving recklessly as well as multiple driving offences.

Police will also allege the accused was driving without a licence on May 25, June 10 and 11.
