A man from regional New South Wales has been charged with 12 child abuse-related offences.

The 28-year-old man was arrested by the Australian Federal Police in Goulburn on May 16, following a report from the United States' National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that an online user had uploaded child abuse material to social media.

A search warrant of the man's home uncovered two mobile phones, allegedly containing over 2000 files of child abuse material, as well as a record of a sexually-charged online chat with an 8-year-old boy.
