Man charged with Christmas Day murder over DJ’s death

A man has been charged with murder following the Christmas Day death of popular DJ Chris Bradley.

Bradley, 28, collapsed at a party in Byron Bay at about 11.30pm on December 25, following an alleged assault earlier in the night.

Police confirmed he was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in Ballina this morning and charged with murder over the incident.

We was refused bail and will appear in Lismore Local Court tomorrow.

The close-knit Byron Bay music community has come together to pay tribute to Bradley, who performed under the moniker of DJ Dad Bod.

Radio show host Danny Salfield has pledged to dedicate his afternoon show on Bay FM to Bradley, urging friends on social media to share their memories and stories.

"Hopefully we can recreate enough Chris Bradley love through the music he was so famous for that wherever he is right now he can kick back with a brewski and a big fat cheesy grin through that glorious red beard and know how much he was loved," Salfield wrote.

Fellow Byron Bay DJ Sammy K told 9NEWS Bradley was one of the the "kindest and happiest" of people.

"He was an absolute champion who would have given his shirt off his back for anyone," he said.

"He was always giving his time to help out up-and-coming producers with their music."

Bradley also ran his own events company, Atypical.

Videos have emerged on social media of other DJs in the coastal town lighting candles during their performances in tribute to Bradley.
