Man shot by police at Brisbane home charged with attempted murder, arson

A man who was this week shot by police during an alleged struggle with officers in a Brisbane backyard has been charged.

The 39-year-old was shot after the officers had arrived at the property on Cabanda Street in Wynnum West at 9.20am on Tuesday in response to reports of a fire.

He was given immediate medical help before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

The man remains in a stable condition and has been charged with one count each of attempted murder and arson.

He is expected to face a bedside court hearing today.

No police officers or members of the public were injured during the shooting.

The Queensland Police Service Ethical Standards Command is continuing to investigate the incident, with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
