Man charged over girlfriend's murder

A man has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend who was found dead in their northern NSW home.

The 31-year-old was taken in for questioning on Friday morning after calling emergency services and saying he had found his partner, 32, unconscious on the bedroom floor of their Tabulam home, about 90km west of Lismore, police say.

Following hours of investigations the man was charged with murder.

AAP understands the murdered woman was a domestic violence victim.

Further information is being sought from police, but the man is likely to appear before Lismore Local Court at the next available sitting.
