Man charged over assault on bound woman

A man who allegedly tied up a woman then hit her so hard she passed out has been arrested and charged at Moree in northern NSW.

Police say that after an argument at a Moree unit on September 3 the 27-year-old man bound the 22-year-old woman's hands and feet with rope before striking her in the head, knocking her out.

He then drove her to a location south of Moree where he allegedly made threats against the woman and again assaulted her.

When she tried to run away, he allegedly overpowered her and once again tied her hands before cutting her free and returning with her to the unit.

Police were alerted to the incident on Friday and at about 7am yesterdat a man was arrested in Moree.

He was charged with detaining a person with intent to commit a serious indictable offence and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Moree Local Court tomorrow.
