Man charged over alleged hit and run in Sydney

A 19-year-old man will face court after an alleged hit and run left a man critically injured in Sydney's south-west earlier this week.

At about 8.30pm on Monday, police were called to the Hume Highway in Liverpool after reports of a man hit by a car.

A 62-year-old man was found lying on the road.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Police earlier this week released CCTV showing a silver ute and a black Mazda 3 as part of the investigation.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in Macquarie Fields yesterday at about 3.40pm.

He was charged over the incident and granted conditional bail to appear in court on May 29.
