Man charged after ‘throwing five-month-old baby at a wall’
A man who was arrested after allegedly throwing a five-month-old baby girl against a wall in Sydney’s west yesterday has been charged.
A 21-year-old man was taken into custody by police at a home on Jersey Road, Hebersham around 2.30pm yesterday after allegedly fighting with a woman.
NSW Police confirmed in a statement that the man allegedly picked up a stroller containing the infant during an argument and threw it at a wall before fleeing the scene.
The five-month-old fell and hit her head on a tile floor.
She was then treated at the scene by paramedics and rushed to Westmead Children’s Hospital with a suspected head injury.
Authorities have since confirmed the baby only sustained minor injuries in the incident.
The 21-year-old man was arrested and taken to Mount Druitt Police station where he has since been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was also granted conditional bail and is expected to appear at Mount Druitt Local Court on June 25.
