‘It was like a movie’: Man’s car bursts into flames as he checked doors were locked

A man whose car burst into flames in Sydney’s west last night has returned home from hospital but says he’s still in shock.

The 54-year-old, identified only as Danny, said it was about 9:30pm when he went outside to check if his car doors were locked.

He said when he opened the car door, it burst into flames.

“I touched the car and just when I opened the door, boof, gone,” he said.

Danny suffered minor burns to his feet and was transported to Liverpool Hospital.

He was released this morning but said he is still very distressed by what happened.

“I’m still shaking you know…I don’t believe it.

“It was like a movie.”

Police have set up a crime scene and are calling the blaze suspicious.
