Man bites police officer in Brisbane CBD attack

A man has allegedly bitten a police officer and hit another in the face after police tried to arrest him in Brisbane’s CBD.

Police allege the 45-year-old man was trespassing on church grounds on North Quay Street when two officers attempted to take him into custody.

It is alleged he resisted arrest before lashing out.

A male officer was bitten on the arm and received grazes to both his arms. A female officer was hit in the face, causing her nose to bleed.

Both officers were taken to hospital.

The man has been charged with three counts of serious assault of a police officer and one count each of trespass and possession of a knife in a public place.

He will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
