Man charged over Sydney bashing

A man has been charged over an alleged bashing in central Sydney, which has left a man in hospital with head injuries.

Police found a 22-year-old man from Woronora, in Sydney's south, lying injured at the intersection of Pitt and Park Streets about 2.15am on Monday.

Witnesses said the man had been bashed by several men who had run away.

He was treated at the scene for head injuries and taken to St Vincent's Hospital.

Three men were later arrested nearby and are assisting detectives with their investigation.

On Monday afternoon a 24-year-old man, from Woolloomooloo, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and an outstanding warrant.

He was refused bail to appear in Central Local Court on Monday.

Police hope to speak with the 22-year-old once he's well enough to be interviewed.
