Man arrested over alleged robbery and assault of an elderly man in South Australia
Police have arrested a man over an alleged aggravated robbery at South Plympton in South Australia earlier in the week that involved a 77-year-old man.
On Monday, October 11, just before 7pm, the elderly resident from Ascot Park was approached by a man who asked if he would drive him to his address in the suburb of Marion.
Police say the older man initially hesitated but eventually agreed and while they were driving the younger man allegedly assaulted him by hitting him in the head with a hammer.

It caused the elderly driver to crash into a parked car, which had no passengers in it at the time.
The younger man then allegedly dragged the other out of the car and continued to assault him before escaping in the same car.
It was reportedly seen driving along Stuart Road in South Plympton.

The elderly man suffered injuries to his head and was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment.
Officers from the Southern District Criminal Investigation Branch arrested the 39-year-old man from Morphett Vale over the alleged assault.
He has been charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and the illegal use of a motor vehicle.

He was refused bail.
The stolen car still hasn't been found and police are calling on the public to help locate it.
