Man arrested outside a Geelong school after reportedly threatening a child

A man has been arrested outside a Geelong school after allegedly threatening a child in a frightening stand-off with police.

It took a number of officers to subdue the offender with police using capsicum spray to take him into custody.

The man was with a toddler believed to be related him. The child is now safely with his mother.

Police responded after the man, who was highly agitated, was allegedly involved in a number of traffic collisions.
