A couple aged in their 60s have been left shaken after a man allegedly broke into their home in Sydney’s south overnight.

Police allege the man forced his way into the home on Orange Street, Hurstville, just after 10pm and threatened the 66-year-old man and 60-year-old woman.

He then tried to flee through a window of the house and received cuts to his wrist and hand.

Police arrested the 40-year-old man after firing a stun gun at him in the backyard.

The couple were not injured.

A crime scene has been established and the man is expected to be charged.
