Man arrested at Toowoomba hospital after being attacked by alleged stabbing victim’s dog

A man who allegedly stabbed a Toowoomba man and was then attacked by his victim's dog has been arrested at a Toowoomba hospital after seeking first aid.

The 18-year-old man allegedly stabbed the 58-year-old at a property on Wuth Street in Toowoomba about 9.30pm yesterday, police said.

The older man's dog attacked the alleged offender, who fled the scene.

The older man then went to Toowoomba Hospital for treatment, and police allege that detectives were interviewing him at the hospital when the 18-year-old arrived seeking treatment for "wounds inflicted by a dog".

The detectives arrested the 18-year-old and have since charged him with unlawful wounding, enter dwelling with intent and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.

Police believe the two men are known to one another.
