A man and woman have been charged after a toddler on the NSW South Coast allegedly ingested the drug ice.

Police were notified when the 16-month-old boy was admitted to Wollongong Hospital on September 8 seriously ill.

Toxicology reports revealed the child had methylamphetamine in his system.

Detectives searched a home in Dapto where a small amount of methylamphetamine was seized.

A man and woman, both aged 30 and known to the child, were arrested on October 30 and charged.

They are expected to appear in court today.
