Man arrested after ramming police car during Blue Mountains rampage

A man has been arrested after allegedly ramming into two police stations and a police vehicle during a rampage in the NSW Blue Mountains.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was taken into police custody after a short pursuit on the Great Western Highway at about 11pm last night where officers were forced to use capsicum spray to subdue him.

Earlier he had allegedly driven a Mercedes Benz station wagon into a steel gate at the entrance to a National Park area at Glenbrook before driving to Springwood Police Station where he allegedly rammed a police van into the station's main gate.

The man then drove down the Great Western Highway where he allegedly smashed into the entrance gate at Lawson Police Station.

A replica pistol which the man was seen holding was later found on the ground along the highway at Lawson.

It is understood the man has been taken to Katoomba Police Station for questioning.
