A 38-year-old man arrested today after allegedly brandishing a one-metre sword in Adelaide’s CBD had only been released from custody a month earlier.

Video shows a man concealing a sword behind his back as he tried to enter a pawn shop in the city.

It's believed he had been dropped off by a vehicle on Hindley Street, before taking off down Bank Street where police seized the weapon and took him into custody.

9NEWS understands the man was on bail after being detained in a citizen's arrest in Rundle Mall a month ago.

In that incident he allegedly shoved a female worker inside a Shiels store and tried to grab jewellery from a display case.

He has since been charged with carrying an offensive weapon and breaching bail. He has been refused bail to front court tomorrow.

Police investigations are ongoing.
