Teen seriously injured after 10 metre window fall

An 18-year-old has been rescued from the eleventh floor of a Parramatta building after falling 10 metres from a window.

Emergency services responded to the Meriton Suites on George Street shortly before 1 am after reports that a man had fallen a distance from one of the top floors of the serviced apartment building and became stranded on the eleventh floor.

Multiple paramedics crews, an ambulance road retrieval medical team, police and fire rescue all responded to the location.

Crews were forced to use the stairwell of the building to climb the eleven floors to reach the patient as the lift was not operating.

Once the man was located, paramedics assessed his injuries and determined the man had suffered leg, head and possible spinal injuries.

Firefighters were required to help paramedics and the medical team by carrying a stretcher to the patient so he could be carried down to the ground level.

The medical team and paramedics treated the teenager before he was placed in the stretcher and carried down the eleven floors around ninety minutes after the fall occurred.

The patient was then loaded into an ambulance and taken to Westmead hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Other young men believed to be friends of the teenager appeared upset and were seen assisting police with their investigation.

Police and forensic officers worked throughout the morning to determine the cause of the fall.
