Drivers facing delays on closed M1 Motorway after motorcyclist hit by tree

Drivers on a major motorway north of Sydney are facing heavy traffic delays today after a motorcyclist was hit by a falling tree.

Emergency services and officers from NSW Roads and Maritime Services attended the scene on the M1 Pacific Motorway near Mt White around 12.05pm where all three southbound lanes were initially closed.

The Careflight helicopter also flew to the scene and landed on the motorway as ambulance paramedics rushed to the motorcyclist's assistance.

the motorway has since reopened, however a heavy backlog of traffic remains on the motorway with cars backed up for around four kilometres.

Drivers on the road and in the nearby area have been urged to exercise caution and allow for extra travel time.
