Man shot while sitting in car at traffic lights in Melbourne's south-east

Detectives are probing whether a car fire is linked to a shooting in Melbourne's south-east overnight.

Police believe a man was shot inside his car while stopped at traffic lights at the intersection of Commercial Drive and South Gippsland Highway in Lynbrook about 8.30pm yesterday.

The man was taken to hospital by a relative, where he remains in a stable condition.

Police are investigating whether a car fire is linked to the shooting. Nine

Emergency services were called an hour later to reports an Audi was on fire on Boundary Road in Narre Warren.

Detectives will investigate if the car fire is linked to the shooting.

The fire is being treated as suspicious.

Police said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined and investigations will continue into both incidents.
