Luxury cars stolen from Sydney car lover’s home

Three teenagers are behind bars after a gang broke into a Sydney car lover's home and stole a number of luxury sports cars.

Two of the vehicles have been found but one classic sports car, a black Jaguar sports sedan, remains missing.

The 42-year-old car enthusiast was asleep inside his West Pennnant Hills home, along with his wife and seven children, when he was woken by the gang at 3.40am this morning.

The robbers forced their way into his garage and drove off in his red 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS coupe, a black Jaguar sedan, a Range Rover and an unregistered Yamaha WR250 motorbike.

The victim called police when he heard the engine of one of his luxury vehicles repeatedly revving. 

Three of the alleged thieves, aged 16, 17 and 18, were arrested a short time later after crashing the Range Rover into a nearby M2 motorway on-ramp.

The teens were taken to Ryde Police Station, where they were charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence in company and two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent.

All three have been refused police bail and will appear in court today.

One witness told 9NEWS she spotted the red Chevy abandoned on the street with its windows down in the rain.

“The first thing I noticed when I pulled over to the driveway was the bright car there with the windows open and I’m like okay, that’s a bit odd, to have such a car left on the street in the rain,” Fatima Nazeri said.

It had recently been advertised for sale online - one of the avenues of inquiry police are looking into as they assess why this family was targeted.

Gang members are still on the run, with police asking the public to be on the lookout for the black model XF 2015 Jaguar with licence plate CXS 56J.
